{"id":224,"date":"2021-05-01T13:46:00","date_gmt":"2021-05-01T13:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.strongwithmitzi.net\/blog\/?p=224"},"modified":"2021-07-06T16:13:53","modified_gmt":"2021-07-06T16:13:53","slug":"summer-sweet-treats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.strongwithmitzi.net\/blog\/summer-sweet-treats\/","title":{"rendered":"Summer Sweet Treats"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Summer time is here.&nbsp; Kids are raiding your cabinets and refrigerators.&nbsp; You have extra kids at your house at all times of the day.&nbsp; &nbsp;What do you feed them?&nbsp;&nbsp; Kids love to help in the kitchen and they love cool fun foods.&nbsp; Let them help you create and make their own summer snacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I harped on child nutrition in my latest blog.&nbsp; I actually had a discussion with a client today about this.&nbsp; He mentioned that his brother had recently had bypass surgery and lost a lot of weight.&nbsp; He then went on to enlighten me that his nephew who is 9 years old, 5\u20192\u201d, 190#, and has just been diagnosed as pre-diabetic.&nbsp; CRAZY!&nbsp; Diabetes knows no boundaries or age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My remark to him was, \u201c I do not understand why parents feel the need to save themselves and not their children.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp; It continues.&nbsp; Why?&nbsp; It\u2019s easier to not argue about it.&nbsp;&nbsp; It\u2019s easier to run through the drive through.&nbsp; It\u2019s easier to let our children eat whatever they want.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The junk drawer\u2026&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;How many of you have one?&nbsp; It\u2019s filled with Little Debbie\u2019s, chips, candy, etc. and you never monitor the intake of your kids.&nbsp; They grab and run off.&nbsp; &nbsp;I\u2019m not judging because I do keep snacks in my house.&nbsp; My kids are allowed a healthy snack and a not so healthy snack during the day.&nbsp;&nbsp; I am saying we, and I say we, need to be just as mindful of what they eat as what we eat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have included some fun, frozen, yummy, easy and healthy snacks for the summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Frozen Bananas:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Peel and slide on a popsicle stick<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Melt chocolate chips<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dip the banana in the chocolate<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Roll the banana in sprinkles, peanuts, mini chocolate chips, or anything fun<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Freeze and then ENJOY<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/secureservercdn.net\/192.169.220.223\/942.631.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/mitzi-kids-169x300.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-389\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Strawberry Skewers:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2 Strawberries<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Marshmallows<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brownie bite<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arrange on skewer<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enjoy<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/secureservercdn.net\/192.169.220.223\/942.631.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/mitzi-kids2-169x300.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-390\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Yogurt Pops:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your favorite Greek Yogurt<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your favorite fruit<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1 TBLS Honey<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Blend together<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Place in Cup \u2013 Popsicle stick attached<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Freeze and Enjoy<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>REFRESHING<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/secureservercdn.net\/192.169.220.223\/942.631.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/mitzi-kids3-169x300.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-391\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>STRONG KIDS<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mitzi<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Summer time is here.&nbsp; Kids are raiding your cabinets and refrigerators.&nbsp; You have extra kids at your house at all times of the day.&nbsp; &nbsp;What do you feed them?&nbsp;&nbsp; Kids love to help in the kitchen and they love cool fun foods.&nbsp; Let them help you create and make their own summer snacks.
